Quality of Life for Women in STEM Discussion
The NYWiSTEM Advocacy Committee conducted a survey on quality of life for women in STEM and presented their findings to our members. There were very interesting findings about policies for maternity leave, paternity leave and childcare that varied across all the NYWiSTEM institutions. We plan to use this information to better advocate for graduate student and postdoctoral researchers who have or plan to have families.

NYWiSTEM Inaugural Networking Reception & Forum
Co-hosted by the NYAS, the inaugural NYWiSTEM event was focused on gathering feedback from the Women in STEM community about programming for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. A panel of expert women shared their perspectives on how the landscape of women in STEM has evolved over their careers, demonstrating what progress has been made and highlighting what needs continue to be unmet. This was followed by a reception during which women from institutions all across the greater metropolitan NYC area were able to meet and exchange ideas for events that would benefit their personal and professional development.
